HISTORY & DESCRIPTION:
Papillon is an extremely original fully authenticated Dunkirk Little Ship built in 1930 by Harris Boat-Builders in Burnham on Crouch as an auxiliary East Coast sloop, setting 387sq. ft. sail, with a ladies aft stateroom for F S Myth of Grays Inn, London a member of the Royal Corinthian Yacht Club.
Papillon was taken to Dunkirk on 1st June 1940 by a civilian crew and thereafter remained in service with the RN until 1946.
Pitch-pine on oak hull, teak superstructure and re-built wheelhouse (2011) Long keel, round bilges and transom stern.
Accommodation for four / five in two cabins.
42hp Isuzu diesel engines installed in 2010, about 650 hours per engine. Reliable and economical and fitted forward of the wheelhouse.
Full navigation and VHF fitted.
