9ft. FAIREY DUCKLING GUNTER-RIGGED SAILING/ROWING DINGHY
The Fairey Duckling, produced during the 1950s & 60s by Fairey Marine in Hamble is a iconic design by the legendary naval architect Uffa Fox. The Duckling dinghy was essentially a sailing or rowing tender produced by the hot moulded method of double diagonal laminates of glued Agba. This produces a vessel of great strength and as such, Ducklings became a familiar sight on many rivers, estuaries and harbours as they were built in relatively large numbers. Today the Duckling is much sought after as a traditional tender to a classic motor or sailing yacht, relatively rare and difficult to find in good condition.
This example, number 982 dating from the mid 1950s has been a tender to classic Fairey Huntsman Powerboat. TUFTY has been refurbished with new rubbing strakes and gunwale in the past 12 months. The hull and interior re-finished with two part International varnish. Epoxy primed below the waterline ready for a topcoat.

BROKERS NOTE:
The Duckling Dinghy has become an iconic mid-century design and is as practical and usable as when first produced some 70 years ago. A stable and dependable dinghy for youngsters to learn to sail and a stylish addition to a classic yacht being relatively lightweight for lifting aboard or for putting on a car roof rack with the mast stowing inside the boat. In the current ownership for some 10 years and garage stored. Excellent example.
