10ft. TWINKLE CLASS SAILING DINGHY – TUFTY
TUFTY is one of a series of traditional lapstrake sailing dinghies built by Wright’s of Ipswich during the 1950s and 60s. Principally these were the Twinkle Class available as 10ft or 12ft sizes with a few 14ft dinghies built. Many of the Twinkle Class were raced at Overy Staithe Sailing Club in Norfolk and a good class representation still exist, proving the popularity of the design. The Twinkle 10 makes an idea yacht tender for a classic sailing or motor yacht and is an excellent boat for the family to learn and enjoy sailing in true Swallows and Amazon’s style.
TUFTY was built in the 1960s by Wright’s of Ipswich of 5/16 inch planking Mahogany, clinker construction, copper fastened to steam bent oak timbers. Varnished Mahogany transom, thwarts and centreboard casing.
Very original, fully re-varnished inside with a varnished exterior top strake and Royal Blue finished hull.
Original gunter rig, with mast, boom, mainsheet, jib sheet, rudder and tiller.
Original sails by Jeckells.
Oars and rowlocks. TUFTY has the benefit of a fitted cover.
Gull road trailer.
The trailer is manufactured to a robust, high specification. She can easily be launch off the trailer single handed.

An increasingly rare opportunity to buy a traditionally designed and built sailing dinghy refurbished in 2022 by the current owner. A very original dinghy, ideal as a yacht tender or for getting afloat for family days and picnics on the water in true Swallows and Amazons style.
