HISTORY & DESCRIPTION:
The Nerissa Class are a well known Alan Wright design chiefly built in New Zealand and Australia.
A number of examples have been sailed to the UK including Autumn Leaves a good few years ago.
Built in 1975 to a high specification of double skin Kauri, Dynel epoxy sheathed on hardwood framing and stringers.
Teak laid decks, varnished mahogany coachroof coamings and cockpit.
Autumn Leaves spent most of the late 70’s and 1980’s sailing around the southern hemisphere and spent some time sailing around Fiji and many more South Pacific Islands.
This was the reason she was built with double diagonal Kauri as there is always the risk of coming across unchartered reefs in this area. The hope being she would survive hitting one. Luckily this was never tested! She even made it as far as South Africa.
During the 1990’s she was moored in Sydney just under the famous Sydney Harbour bridge. She cruised up and down the east coast of Australia.
In 2001 she was sold to Michael Watt who then shipped her to the UK, the current owner taking over full ownership, as opposed to joint, in 2009.
