‘Farrane’ was designed as a one-off commission by the respected West Country naval architect Rodney Warington-Smyth well known as the designer of the successful series of Falmouth Pilot Yachts.

In the present ownership ‘Farrane’ has professionally been completed re-furbished to a high standard throughout (2008 / 09) with further cosmetic and fitting-out during 2010, including a fully re-built diesel engine with all new parts (2010)

Carvel pitch-pine construction on copper fastened steam bent oak timbers.  Oak floors with Elm backbone, Afromosia transom.  2000lb cast iron ballast keel with additional internal trimming ballast.  Teak laid deck over marine ply, varnished teak cockpit coamings and teak trim.

Masthead Bermudian Sloop Rig, deck stepped aluminium mast.  Stainless steel standing rigging, Rotostay furling fore-stay.  Mainsail, Genoa (on roller furling gear) Spinnaker, all sails valeted 2010.  Pair of bronze Lewmar ST30 self tailing sheet winches fitted new in 2008.  Pair of tufnol mast halyard winches.  Approx. 300 sq. ft. sail area.

20hp Nanni 3/90 Diesel Engine.  Centre-line shaft driven three blade propeller. About 5 knots cruising speed, maximum 7.5 knots.  25 litre Vetus fuel tank giving about 75 mile range.  New wiring throughout in 2009.

Pleasant and bright accommodation with part standing headroom.  Saloon with re-upholstered port and starboard settee berths with locker spaces under and stowage shelving above.  Varnished drop-leaf cabin table, bulkhead lights.  Neptune 2500 two burner gas cooker with grill.  Pantry and crockery lockers.   100 litres fresh-water capacity in flexible tank.  Galley hand pump.  Fore-cabin with twin / double berth with recent new upholstery.  New Lavac sea toilet.  Fore hatch.  Self-draining cockpit with locker seats, tiller steering, single lever engine controls.  Bridge deck with varnished teak sliding hatch and double cabin doors.

Raymarine ST50 tri-data depth, speed, log instruments, Compass, Raymarine bronze transducer, VHF with new aerial, Mast-head tri-colour light, anchor/steaming lights, and pulpit mounted navigation lights.  Avon Redstart Dinghy, Winter cover and frame, Bimini awing over boom, Legs and stereo CD and speakers.
