CHRISTINA – HISTORY & DESCRIPTION:
Clipper Ketch built to the William Garden ‘Cape Cauvin’ design by Cape Yachts Ltd. Hong Kong in 1975. William Garden (1918 – 2011), a well respected Canadian designer settled in the USA after studying naval architecture in London. His designs offer a sense of purpose, are sea kindly and attractive with a distinctive sweeping sheer.
CHRISTINA is constructed of Burma teak on oak frames with teak laid deck and superstructure.
Cutter rigged ketch, new wooden spars in 2014. Four sails including main, mizzen, staysail and genoa.
Electric winch and new controls, serviced in 2014.
Spacious, well-planned interior with accommodation for ten in four separate cabins. Teak joinery throughout. Heads compartment with new shower and washbasin in 2016. New shower pump.
New gas cooker in 2014 and all new gas system and gas locker. Pressurised water system with new hot water tank and immersion heater. 325-litre freshwater capacity in a single tank.
72hp Perkins 4-236 diesel engine completely overhauled in 2014. Two 110 litre stainless steel fuel tanks. Two domestic and two engine gel batteries new in 2016. Solar panel charging and battery charger.
New deck cushions and two sun awnings.
