Classic Yacht Brokerage Comments on this Heard Tosher 18 Lugger
Heard Tosher 18 built by Gaffers & Luggers in 1979. She is from their standard 18’ Tosher mould which is based on an original Mevagissey Tosher working boat.
The boat was bought by the present owner as a project in 2019. She had been used for line bass fishing and was generally in a very poor state of repair. The basic hull and decks, both GRP, were in sound condition but the hull was gutted out completely and built back up to the boat we see now. The project was completed in the spring of 2025.
Unusually she has plate bilge keels enabling her to sit almost upright on the sand. This feature is not common on these Toshers but is a very useful addition for many people who might intend to keep the boat on a drying mooring.
These boats are light enough that she could be trailered on the road with a suitable vehicle, possibly helping to reduce running costs for the right owner. She comes with a yard trailer that would need brakes fitting to make it road legal.
Excellent 2025 survey available.
