HISTORY & DESCRIPTION:

S’MARIANNE was designed by the well respected naval architect A F Ameen and built in Sweden for her first owner Carl Lidmann for Summer cruising and racing in the Baltic.

The design was a great success and went on to be the basis of further yachts of the period.

Racing Cruising & Design, written by Uffa Fox, originally published in 1937 features S’MARIANNE with lines and sail plans and photographs of her under sail.

Exterior. Teak laid decks with Marine ply substrate, Spacious Teak cockpit seating 6, small teak table, and separate helm position, period brass compass, engine controls, original bronze winches supplemented by 4 newer Anderson sheet winches. Vetus Anchor winch, 16kg Lewmar Anchor, 50m ½” chain

Interior: Companionway to the main saloon: Small galley to Starboard with 2 burner alcohol stove, Heads compartment to port. Two upholstered bench seats with original small lockers above, storage lockers below. Original mahogany dressers on both sides. Door to Master cabin. Single berths on each side with original drawers under. Small access door leading to Forecastle with a further double bed and hatch out to the foredeck. Chain locker in Bow.

Rig: Hollow spruce masts, removed and re-varnished 2016, Swedish stainless rigging 1—19 stainless steel, 4 bronze winches, all good condition. Galvanised steel turnbuckles and backstay levers.

Sails: All new in 2000. Of high quality, always protected with covers in good condition. Roller reefing jib (Furlex), Mainsail with slab reefing, mizzen, staysail. Selection of older sails including the original cotton and flax sails, from 1936 all still usable.

Propulsion: Volvo Penta MD21A normally aspirated 4 cylinder diesel engine 75hp, 1974 in good condition.Vibration-free mountings. New cylinder head gasket in 2016, new diesel pump 2014, driving bronze 3 bladed Prop through Volvo hydraulic reduction drive. 80l Vetus diesel Tank, Vetus exhaust.

Electrical: 12V electrical system, 2x 200AH gel domestic Battery, 120 Ah engine starting battery, twin diode 40A engine-driven alternator. Mastervolt charger, Mastervolt circuit breakers, rewired 2016. 2 Automatic 12v Bilge pumps, further large capacity 12V pump, small hand bilge pump. Garmin GPS chart plotter, Digital depth and speed.

Domestic: Approx 250l freshwater tankage in 1 hard and 2 soft tanks, hot and cold pressurised water system, with a shower in Heads. 2013 Lavac toilet. Shower drain grey water tank.

Major renovation in 1997

The hull below waterline stripped to bare wood; New oak sternpost; New garboards; New rudder; new plywood waterproof sub-deck, new teak deck overlay; various wooden repairs to exterior; renewing of all caulking with rebated Simson caulking system.

Additional work 2014: Five frames repaired, Interior layout upgraded, running rigging refurbished, 2016 new sun cover covering the complete boat, new awning, New GPS, Handheld VHF, anchor and chain.
