HISTORY & DESCRIPTION:

GIRL FRIEND was designed by Frank Parson MINA, resident naval architect at Seacraft & Co. Ltd. Leigh-On-Sea, Essex, where she was built in 1960 for F A Norton of St Clere’s Hall, Danby, Essex, registered in London, official number 301201.

In 1965 R L Carter of Wickford, Essex became the second owner keeping GIRL FRIEND locally at Bradwell on the Blackwater Estuary. GIRL FRIEND remained in his ownership for some twenty-five years before being bought in June 1991 by the current owner. The vessel was transported to the owners home and stored in an open barn where a meticulous restoration began lasting some fifteen years. Sadly due to the premature death of the owner the restoration of GIRL FRIEND was never completed. The interior has been re-fitted to an extremely high standard with great skill and practically everything is available to complete the project. Full photographic history of the restoration.

OWNERS NOTE:

My husband always dreamed about sailing around the West Coast of Scotland in our retirement. After restoring a 34’ wooden motor yacht BARANNE, which we used on the River Ouse in York, taking 5 years to complete, we then decided to purchase GIRL FRIEND. We have spent many years lovingly working on her but sadly due to my husband passing away 5 years ago, I need to sell her to someone who can finish this restoration.

BROKERS NOTE:

A great opportunity to buy a good quality, well designed, capable, sea-going motor-yacht with the benefit of two, virtually new diesel engines and a host of fittings, timber and gear to complete the project. Completion well within the scope of a capable non professional enthusiast or a first rate project for a commercial boatyard or shipwright. Motor yachts of this size have risen considerably in value during the past few years and GIRL FRIEND compares favourably with a similar sized Silverleaf motor-yacht.
