Launched as GAY MAID in 1951 for Mr & Mrs S W Frost of Tettenhall, Staffordshire to a cruiser/racer design by W L Hobbs of Port Hamble Ltd and classed with Lloyds from April 1951 until November 1957.

During the Frosts ownership GAY MAID was stationed on the Hamble. In the early 1960s N A Pullen of Fillongley, Warwickshire became the second registered owner keeping the yacht in Gosport. In the late 1960s P D Allan of Gargrave, Yorkshire bought GAY MAID followed by F A Buglass in 1974. In the late 1970s C W Edgehill of Tintagel became the next owner keeping the yacht in Plymouth. Various new ownership’s continued during the following decades before the current owner purchased the vessel now named MAID OF SKIPPOOL.  A keel-up restoration was arranged with specialist wooden boat restorer David Moss. The vessel was only recently re-commissioned after the extensive refit costing in excess of £200,000. A full photographic record and all invoices are available for the work completed.
