HISTORY & CONSTRUCTION:
The Royal 34 design dates from 1965 with 800 boats built to the design and over 200 vessels imported into the UK from Swedish boat builders Storebro Bruks AB, who are renowned for their high standard construction and finish.
SIR EDWARD (formerly RONBA) was traditionally built in African Mahogany, later boats being a combination of wood and GRP and from 1978 GRP moulded until production ceased in 1988. The hull form is semi-displacement giving a speed of about 12 knots with the smaller engine option and up to 25 knots with the larger units.
The design has been a great success winning the Pavillon d’ Or in 1964, 1965 and 1968.
SIR EDWARD has been the subject of a comprehensive re-fit and restoration over a two year period. She is finished to a high standard throughout and well equipped with upgraded systems.
During the 1970s she was owned by Deny Peel of Tyne Hall, Bembridge and used on the Solent. During the 1980s John Clague of Canterbury owned SIR EDWARD keeping her in Ramsgate. In new ownership, the vessel was moved to Helston, Cornwall where she was restored and is kept on a beautiful estuary mooring.
