WHIMBREL – HISTORY & DESCRIPTION:
WHIMBREL was built by Rossiter Yachts to their Curlew Class design in 1988 to Lloyds 100A1 Class. The design is a proven shoal-draught coastal and off-shore vessel with triple keels which enables her to take the ground upright and to cruise in shallow waters and estuaries. The raised topsides and full-width coachroof provides plenty of space on deck as well as interior volume compared to other yachts of the same overall length. Additionally, this makes the boat particularly seaworthy and for dry-decks on certain points of sailing. The deck finished with maintenance-free treadmaster is spacious and shroud free.
The interior is spacious and light with white panels, hardwood joinery and blue upholstery, the separate fore-cabin and heads compartment can be closed off using the hanging locker and heads doors. To the port side of the companionway is the galley with a gimballed double burner cooker and grill, with separate oven, sink with pantry lockers below, to starboard is the navigation station. In the main saloon, there is one double and one single settee/berths with lee cloths, with a folding table having bottle stowage below.
In the fore cabin there are two single berths, one with a lee cloth or can be converted into a double berth with storage below. Aft to port of the fore cabin is a large hanging locker. To starboard is the heads with sliding sink draining into the wc. The Bukh 36hp diesel engine is accessible from the saloon and from under the cockpit floor, with easy access to the fuel filters.
