12ft TRADITIONAL SAILING DINGHY – KATE
The family business of McNulty dates back to 1902, founded by Captain James McNulty in South Shields. This maritime business employed shipwright who in the latter part of the 20th Century began producing a range of quality traditional dinghies. Such was the standard of craftsmanship McNulty secured the exclusive license to produce the Drascombe range.
The 12ft clinker built dinghy, featuring a gaff rig proved to be extremely popular for inland lakes and waterways and perfect as a tender to larger yachts. An ideal dinghy for teaching children to sail or row in sheltered waters. As such McNulty boats are highly sought-after. KATE (short for KATRINA) a family boat was professionally refurbished in 2015/16 and is a particularly smart example having been little used since. Offered with a Snipe Road Trailer and Evinrude two-stroke out-board motor.
KATE probably dates from the mid to late 1980s and is of traditional lapstrake construction having mahogany strakes all copper fastened to steam bent oak timbers. Varnished mahogany aft, centre and forward thwarts with buoyancy bags under.
Gaff rig with main sail and jib by Bristol Sails. Rigging replaced in 2015. Varnished wooden mast, gaff and boom. Traditional fittings.
